developed for devicies, such as modems and external harddisk drives, that can be plugged into notebook computers.

A PCMCIA card is about the size of a credit card.

For some unfathomable reason, around 1995(?) they decided to

rename PCMCIA cards "PC Cards", perhaps to encourage sales to

confused purchasers.
