Chỉ tình cảnh chơi cờ bạc hoặc hơn thua mà bên nào cũng thiệt: người ít vốn thua nhanh từng ván, người nhiều vốn cũng hao dần đến kiệt quệ. Thường dùng để nói sự hơn thua kéo dài rốt cuộc không ai được lợi.

It refers to a situation of gambling or rivalry in which both sides end up losing: the one with less means loses quickly, while the one with more resources is gradually worn down. It is used to say that prolonged competition or mutual struggle ultimately benefits no one.
