Altaic language
Proper noun A proposed major language family of Eurasia, or a language belonging to this proposed family. The Altaic hypothesis groups together the Turkic, Mongolic, and Tungusic language families, and sometimes includes Koreanic and Japonic. The existence of a genetic (inherited) relationship between these families is a subject of significant debate among linguists.
