Chỉ tình cảm của cha mẹ hoặc người thân: lúc bực tức có thể mắng phạt, nhưng khi thấy con cái đau đớn, im lặng hay tỏ vẻ tủi thân thì lại xót thương. Câu này nói rằng người ruột thịt không nỡ đối xử tàn nhẫn lâu dài với con cái.

This refers to the feelings of parents or close family members: in anger they may scold or punish, but when they see the child suffering or subdued, they feel pity and affection again. It expresses the idea that one cannot remain cruel to one’s own children.
