Chỉ thân phận người con gái thường bị người khác dòm ngó, trêu ghẹo hoặc lợi dụng, giống như hoa nở ra để người ta hái. Thường dùng để than thở, ngậm ngùi về sự thiệt thòi và lệ thuộc của phụ nữ trong quan niệm cũ.
